The fate of pain

My poetry submission to the prompt "what is the fate of pain?" for @poems_fortheendoftheworld | poetry | seedling | curious |

A friend started an online writing group @poems_fortheendoftheworld with a new poetry prompt each week. I decided to take part. You can read all submissions for Volume 1 at this doc.

Here's my submission for week one:

The fate of pain

sometimes the pain
comes in
showers

lukewarm and
covering
my skin.

lately, mist.
barely there, but
everywhere.

rain drops too.
outside I see them
through windows

fogged with my
shallow breath, lips
parted.

I catch them
sometimes in
ball jars,

with labels so
I know where
to place them

on shelves
indexed by
subject.

family. earth.
that day at the park.
other selves.

my library grows,
and I rearrange
to remember.
