a 2025 recap
Jump to section titled: a 2025 recapone year ago today, i published a recap of 2024. here's another post, but for 2025.
last year was busy for me musically. i picked up my first pedal steel guitar back in june and quickly began woodshedding to learn its mysterious ways. i played dozens of shows, trying out new material as i learned it. i also spent more time in recording studios than i ever have, tracking my own music and playing over friends' material.
profesionally, i attended lots of conferences and wrote some papers. i am beginning to explore what comes next for my work, how my work with data in the past can inform my artistic direction in the future.
these days i am much more interested in the philosophical questions around data and information than working with the actual numbers and words. still exploring what this means in practice.
i also completed my most ambitious interactive show yet (more details on that to come) for the Burlington NYE Highlight festival.
in no particular order, here are some things i did in 2025:
- bought pedal steel, started learning
- recorded with Audrey Pearl
- remote overdub work on pedal steel
- finished a new St. Silva album, signed contract with a label for release
- recorded with new band Daffodil-11 album, launching first single Back Pocket
- recorded bass with Alice Grace
- produced an interactive aerialist show with Nate Hicks (aka silence_castor), writing original music and designing a custom wearable sensor that tracked movement data in real time
- got into film photography
- recorded and released Loading Screen Music 2 with Ian Steinberg
- started building a home music studio
- built an interactive map for non-car infrastructure projects in Vermont
- built Asteroid Tones, a sonic wallpaper data sonification of asteroids passing earth today
